The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the Accra Sports Stadium is currently the only approved venue for hosting Black Stars matches.

According to the GFA’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, the decision follows sanctions placed on the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for failing to meet international standards set by CAF and FIFA. Baba Yara had previously served as the national team’s main home ground.

“As it stands, the only approved venue for Black Stars matches is the Accra Sports Stadium. That will host our games in September and October,” Asante Twum told 3Sports.

The Black Stars are scheduled to face Mali and Comoros in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Both fixtures will now be played in the capital, Accra.

Ghana returned to the Accra Sports Stadium in March for a Matchday 5 qualifier, where they recorded a dominant victory over Chad.

After six rounds of qualifiers, the Black Stars lead Group I with 15 points, three points ahead of second-placed Comoros as they aim for a fifth World Cup appearance.
