Tears filled the air at the state funeral of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah when a nine-year-old boy whose life he transformed appeared to bid a final farewell.

Little Setor, once forced to use a plastic chair to move due to a debilitating medical condition, had his life changed on August 5 when Dr. Boamah fully sponsored his surgery. The compassionate gesture came just a day before tragedy struck—the minister passed away on August 6, the very day he was meant to meet Setor after the successful procedure.

Defying formal protocols, Setor’s family attended the funeral, bringing along the very plastic chair he once relied on—a silent yet powerful symbol of his journey from struggle to hope, made possible by Dr. Boamah’s generosity.

“We brought the chair to show where he came from and how Dr. Omane Boamah changed his path. I believe, wherever his soul is, he’ll be happy seeing Setor here today,” his caretaker shared.

Somber yet determined, Setor stood among mourners, his presence a living testament to the minister’s compassion—a boy’s restored future standing in honour of the man who made it possible.
