GAF Warns Media Against Speculation on Helicopter Crash
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has urged journalists, commentators, bloggers, and content creators to refrain from spreading unverified or speculative information about the recent military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.
In a statement signed by Captain (GN) V. A. Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the GAF expressed concern over “numerous speculative and unsubstantiated commentaries” surrounding the Z-9 Air Force helicopter incident.
“For the sake of the bereaved families and loved ones, we call on media practitioners, panellists, social commentators, bloggers, and content creators to be circumspect in their reportage. This is to honour the memory of the fallen heroes and to help ease the grief of their families,” the statement read.
The GAF acknowledged the strong public interest in the tragedy but assured that a thorough investigation—conducted with input from international agencies—is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
“At this time, any conclusions based on opinions, perceptions, or conjecture will be premature and misleading. We advise the public to treat such reports with caution,” the statement added.
The Armed Forces also expressed gratitude to the government, institutions, and individuals who have shown support during this period of national mourning, and extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. “May the souls of our patriots continue to rest in peace,” it concluded.
