Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has paid a moving tribute to the late Samuel Aboagye, Acting Deputy Director-General of Operations at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), who died in the tragic August 6 Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District, Ashanti Region.

Mr. Aboagye was among eight people who lost their lives in the accident while travelling to Obuasi.

Describing him as a “bright and promising leader,” Dr. Amoakohene fondly recalled their close collaboration during the 2024 general elections, when Mr. Aboagye served as the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“I had the privilege of working with him during the 2024 elections, and his dedication to serving the people of Obuasi East and Adansi Asokwa can never be undervalued,” the Minister said.

Speaking at the Evening of Reflections and Memorial service for the crash victims on Saturday, August 9, Dr. Amoakohene praised Mr. Aboagye’s values, calling him “a beacon of what leadership among Ghana’s youth should represent.”

“To us, the youth of Ghana, we have lost a leader who proved that politics can be about service, humility, and integrity,” he said, adding that his legacy would be defined not by the length of his life, but by the depth of his impact.

“Samuel, your wife Abigail will miss you. Your two daughters will definitely miss you. Your mother will miss you. The family will miss you. The NDC will miss you. NADMO will miss you. And, of course, Ghana will miss you,” Dr. Amoakohene concluded.
