EBID Mourns Victims of Ghana Helicopter Crash
The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, claiming the lives of several high-ranking Ghanaian officials and military officers.
In a condolence statement signed by its President and Chairman of the Board, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, EBID extended heartfelt sympathies to President John Dramani Mahama, the bereaved families, and the entire nation of Ghana during what it described as a period of "immense sorrow."
The Bank mourned the loss of key national figures including Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr. Samuel Sarpong; Mr. Samuel Aboagye; and military personnel Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Describing the deceased as “dedicated public servants and military personnel,” EBID commended their unwavering commitment to peace and development, adding that their loss is not only a tragedy for Ghana but the West African region as a whole.
EBID concluded by offering prayers for comfort and strength to all affected, affirming that the sacrifices of the departed should inspire continued efforts toward unity and prosperity within Ghana and the broader ECOWAS community.
