The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has confirmed the seizure of a Lamborghini Urus from Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, following a joint operation with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ).

The operation, conducted in June 2025 at Shatta Wale’s Trassaco Valley Phase 1 residence, was part of an ongoing international probe into financial crimes. It followed a 2023 request from the FBI and DOJ to Ghanaian authorities.

According to EOCO, the 2019 Lamborghini was linked to Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian national currently serving an 86-month prison sentence in the U.S. for a string of financial offences. Investigators believe the vehicle was purchased using proceeds from Amuah’s criminal activities and later traced to Shatta Wale.

EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) led the operation, which was carried out without incident. Officers were described as professional and civil, though armed—as per standard protocol.

Shatta Wale reportedly pleaded with EOCO officers to keep the matter private, citing the vehicle’s significance to his public image. He was, however, permitted to voluntarily hand over the car, which is now in EOCO’s custody.

Authorities in both Ghana and the U.S. say a formal Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) request will be made for the repatriation of the vehicle as part of efforts to recover $4.7 million in restitution owed by Amuah.

EOCO also disclosed that Shatta Wale and a former senior official of Ghana’s National Signals Bureau (NSB) have been identified as persons of interest and are expected to be invited to assist with the investigation.

The agency added that its final report may be shared with U.S. authorities under international cooperation agreements.
