Kwakye Ofosu Calls for National Unity in Honour of Helicopter Crash Victims
Presidential Spokesperson and Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has urged Ghanaians to unite in honour of the eight lives lost in the August 6 military helicopter crash.
Speaking at the Evening of Reflections and Memorial on Saturday, August 9, at the Forecourt of the State House, Mr. Ofosu described the deceased as “eight brave souls whose lives were tragically cut short in service to our nation.”
“They answered the call to serve, fully aware of the risks involved in safeguarding our peace and progress. Their passing in the line of duty is the ultimate sacrifice — a stark reminder of the personal cost borne by those who protect our nation,” he said.
The Abura Asebu Kwamankese MP urged citizens to uphold the values the victims embodied: courage, professionalism, and patriotism. He called on all Ghanaians to work together in building “a Ghana truly worthy of their sacrifice — a nation of greater safety, enduring peace, and unwavering unity.”
“From this somber reflection comes a powerful call to action. Let us never forget their courage, their commitment, and the supreme price they paid. Let their legacy inspire us to uphold the ideals of service, integrity, and patriotism they exemplified,” he added.
Mr. Ofosu also pledged full support for the bereaved families, assuring them: “We stand with you now and always.”
The memorial service formed part of a three-day national mourning period for the fallen heroes.
